COVENANT 11 – BUILD UP THE CHURCH

A core aspect of our growth strategy involves the nurturing and dissemination of our unique Community life. We strive to establish Sacramental Community Churches – faith communities that embody the values and practices of the Coworkers of Christ. Here, individuals can explore their vocations, receive guidance, and experience the enriching fellowship of shared worship and faith.

Church planting, a core missionary strategy for the Coworkers of Christ, goes beyond simply establishing new places of worship. It’s about sowing seeds of faith and fostering vibrant Christian communities that contribute to the overall growth of both the Church, our Community, and the greater surrounding community at large.

Sacramental Community Churches provide platforms to share the message of Jesus Christ and His Sacraments with those who may not have been previously connected to a faith community. This expands the reach of the Church and offers opportunities for spiritual awakening.

Church plants often attract young families and individuals seeking a fresh expression of faith. These communities can provide a welcoming environment for spiritual exploration, fostering a new generation of dedicated Christians.

We also understand that sometimes the path of faith can be filled with unexpected detours. Many people have been hurt or disillusioned by previous church experience and find themselves without a church home, and our Sacramental Community Churches stand to welcome them with open arms.

Our inclusive and compassionate environment offers a safe haven for those who feel ostracized, abused, or unchurched. Here, they will find a community built on forgiveness, understanding, and a shared love for Christ, His Church, and the Sacraments. We believe past experiences don’t define one’s future in the faith. Exploring spirituality in a supportive and judgment-free space can be a journey of healing and rediscovering God’s love can begin anew.

Following the Coworkers of Christ’s emphasis on service, church plants can become hubs for social outreach and charitable works. We can address local needs, collaborate with existing organizations, and offer practical assistance to those in need. This strengthens the bonds between the church and the surrounding community.

The Sacramental Community Churches established by the Coworkers of Christ embody our spirit of simplicity. These faith communities prioritize creating a welcoming space for spiritual exploration and growth, not accumulating material possessions or real estate. They offer opportunities for service and outreach, encouraging members to put their faith into action and share their blessings with others.

Church planting can contribute to Christian unity by creating inclusive faith communities that welcome people from diverse backgrounds. This aligns with the Coworkers of Christ’s commitment to ecumenical dialogue and fostering the broader unity of Christ.

Ultimately, church planting serves as a powerful tool for the Coworkers of Christ to fulfill our missionary calling. By establishing new faith communities that embody our values and principles, we contribute to the growth of the Church, enrich the lives of individuals, and serve the communities where we plant our roots.
