O eternal God, from whom all times and seasons take their meaning:
We give thee humble thanks for the year that is past, for its mercies remembered and its lessons hard-won.
Forgive us, we pray thee, for the good left undone, the love withheld, and the truth we failed to speak.
As we stand upon the threshold of a new year, grant us grace to walk in thy light and not in our own shadows.
Order our days in wisdom, our labor in faithfulness, our rest in trust, and our speech in charity.
Make us steadfast in what is right, gentle in what is tender, and courageous in the face of injustice.
Where the road ahead is uncertain, be thou our guide; where it is steep, be thou our strength; where it is dark, be thou our hope and our song.
Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto thy wisdom and spend ourselves freely in the service of thy kingdom.
Keep us mindful of the poor, the lonely, and the forgotten; make us instruments of thy peace in a fractured world; and renew in us a right spirit, that this year may bear fruit worthy of thy calling.
All this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
