COVENANT 14 – HE SENT THEM OUT TWO BY TWO
Most apostolic work within the Community is done collaboratively, involving at least two members. If a member works alone, we do so in spiritual unity with the Community and under the guidance of the Minister General. We emphasize protecting each other from work-related stress, recognizing its potential to harm individuals and weaken the Community’s witness. Financial gain should never be the primary motivation for choosing an apostolic work, although financial realities must be considered. When financial need becomes a factor, the Minister General should be consulted.
The ultimate goal is to serve the needs of others, not simply address financial concerns. When choosing apostolic or self-supporting work, the needs of people, the Church, the Community, and the individual member are all considered. The General Gathering and local chapters, along with the Minister General and local leaders, work together to discern individual talents and the needs of the community and Church.
As a community dedicated to serving God’s will within the Church and the world, we actively discern the needs of our times through the lens of faith. Guided by this discernment, we utilize our individual and collective talents to undertake various types of work, always prioritizing those most in need and those who haven’t yet received the message of salvation.
