COVENANT 15 – FRUIT OF THE LABOR OF YOUR HANDS

COVENANT 15 – FRUIT OF THE LABOR OF YOUR HANDS

The Coworkers of Christ believe that all work, regardless of location or manner, contributes to the building of God’s Kingdom. Within the Community, this is evident in our daily lives.  Beyond our Community, our spiritual, intellectual, and material contributions serve as a witness to others, particularly in pastoral and missionary efforts within parishes and Christian organizations.  Even in secular jobs, we strive to live out the same values.

Our hearts yearn for the establishment of God’s Commonwealth, wherever we may be, whatever we may be doing.  In accordance with monastic tradition, members are prepared to undertake manual labor when

love, obedience, or necessity dictates.  Manual work complements the contemplative life by fostering humility, simplicity, and inner peace.  Furthermore, it allows us to connect with the experience of the world’s poor, who rely on daily labor to meet their basic needs.

The Coworkers of Christ value equality and respect among members.  The type of work a member does, their position within the Community, or their salary has no bearing on their worth within the group.  We do not allow external work to influence our internal esteem for one another.
